Hadoop Workshop

ACM is excited to announce that next week we will be hosting a workshop from State Farm on Hadoop, a big data framework! This collaboration has been in the works since August and we're excited to announce it now.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, October 27 at 7pm in Gould-Simpson 906. Please spread the word - as with all our meetings, any and all in the UofA community are welcome to attend.

ICPC Qualifier 2016

We're excited to announce this year's International Collegiate Programming Competition qualifier! It will be held on Saturday, October 8 from 8am to 1pm in the Gould-Simpson 228 computer lab. This qualifier competition is open to any student at the UofA who is at least half-time.

The competition will be done in teams of three. If you don't already have a team by the time of the competition, you can form a team at the event. Top teams from the qualifier will advance to the regionals, conveniently located here at the UofA.

9/8/16 - Git Workshop

This week our meeting will feature a workshop on Git, a widely-used distributed version control system. This talk will be at our normal time (Thursday at 7pm).

UPDATE: The workshop will be held in Gould-Simpson 930, a CS Department computer lab. If you wish to follow along on a computer and do not have a CS account, please be sure to bring a laptop.

Fall 2016 First Meeting

We're excited to announce that this semester's first meeting of ACM will take place at 7pm this Thursday, September 1 in Gould-Simpson room 906. Come learn more about ACM and the exciting new changes in store for the chapter. Please note that the meeting time has changed since last year. Food (cookies) will be provided.
